30 Twitter Header Images

A few weeks ago, Twitter unveiled header images. One thing you’ll notice is that Twitter header images are very similar to Facebook’s Timeline – with the exception that you can actually use Twitter header images to advertise different facets of your business.

This is BIG news for businesses who are using Twitter because this now gives businesses another area to show off their brand to followers through their Twitter header image. Twitter header images also present brands with the opportunity to showcase a particular product, an upcoming promotion, a hashtag associated with a brand along with many other creative ways to use Twitter header images.

I have spent time scouring Twitter for examples of Twitter header images and came up with 30 examples of Twitter header images done right:

How to change your Twitter header image

Big news today for Twitter users. Twitter profile pages have now been updated with header images. If you’ve ever used Facebook or Google+, they’re basically a version of the cover photo.

To see what Twitter header images look like, visit your Twitter account and click on the “me” section. Now let’s customize your Twitter header image!

So how do you change your Twitter header image?

First things first – prepare your image. When creating your image, keep in mind that using a smaller image than the recommended size will result in a grainy and poor Twitter header image. Also, when choosing an image, remember, this image goes below your Twitter avatar so it may take a few tries to get things right.

The recommend size for your new Twitter header image is as follows:

  • Dimensions: 1252×626 px
  • Maximum size of 5 mb

Why change your Twitter header image?

One of the key benefits to Twitter header images is that it’s a great way to help give your followers better insight into what makes you tick – it’s also great for improving interactions with followers.

App of the day: iCab

iCab mobile web browser for Apple iPad and iPhoneI’ll be honest – I LOVE my Apple iPad. It’s great for checking emails and of course playing games, watching movies, reading books and magazines and pretty much anything else you want to do.

One thing though that it’s not so good at – browsing the web. What I mean is that while surfing the web works well, there are a few nuisances. For example, have you ever tried to access a website only to be redirected to a mobile version that is missing a feature you need and with no way to get to the desktop version? You would think that heavily trafficked websites would give users the option to choose if they wanted to use the full website or the more restricted mobile website, especially on an iPad. For me, this is unsatisfactory because it limits us in what we can get done from this device.

A second example where browsing the web falls short is when trying to use social networks like Facebook. Plainly put, some features, such as sharing don’t work via Facebook’s mobile app. This also holds true for anyone who uses Facebook Groups and wants to upload individual or multiple photos at a time. It can’t be done – even with any of the photo uploading apps such as PhotoLoader HD – which only upload photos to a profile or a page.

Fortunately, I have found a solution – iCab mobile web browser

Facebook Onsite Notifications and what this means for your Facebook Pages

Facebook onsite notificationsToday, Facebook unveiled a new feature for Facebook Pages called onsite notifications.  While Facebook onsite notifications sounds like a tool to notify businesses when a customer or fan is “onsite” so that they can offer them a special or deal, it is anything but that.

What are Facebook onsite notifications?

App of the day: Turboscan

Turboscan appLately, I’ve been doing a little cleaning around my office. Stacks of papers, magazine articles I’ve meant to read but haven’t yet gotten to, even business cards that I’ve collected from people I’ve met at past conferences. Over time, it adds up and eventually, can overwhelm us and make it difficult for us to get things done because we end up spending more time searching for things in those stacks rather than getting things done.

To help me better organize my life, I’ve started going digital. Digital music, books, receipts, and even magazines. While it is easy to sign-up to start receiving digital books or magazines, what do you do with all of the countless papers that you’ve collected?

Fortunately, there’s an app that I’ve found that has helped me streamline things. It is called Turboscan.

Think of it like a personal scanner without the bulk that you can carry with you.

How to publish your own eBook

How to publish your own eBook

Over the past five years, eBooks have replaced printed books thanks to the invention of the e-Book reader and a push on being more environmentally friendly. What this means is that now you don’t have to carry around a lot of heavy books. In addition, eBooks have become a popular way to publish your own books because now you don’t have a lot of start-up costs nor do you have to try to find a publisher because you can do it all yourself!

Why publish your own eBook?

Publishing your own eBook is a great way to not only share your content with others, but it can also be used to market your business. For example, when you publish an eBook, you can post a link to it on your favorite social networks to engage with fans and followers. eBooks are also a great way to attract readers to your website – not only can you have readers download your eBook, but in doing this, it exposes them to additional content on your blog that they might not be aware of.

5 ways to fix low social media engagement

Low social media engagement

At the urging of your business partners, you signed your business up for the most popular social networks – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and even went so far as to create a LinkedIn profile for yourself.  Upon joining, you expected the growth to be slow – a few fans, a few followers here or there.  Fast forward 90 days later though and your accounts have stayed consistently flat. No grand splash.  What to do?

Like most businesses who joined a social network, expecting a social networking gold rush complete with lots of fans and followers, that’s not the case. In fact, most businesses will start off and remain flat – not because it doesn’t work – it does.

The typical problem with most businesses who join a social network is that they’re expecting overnight growth.  This is something that doesn’t just happen overnight. Growth through social media is something you have to work at – just ask anyone who joined a social network. For example, I didn’t start out with 27,000+ Facebook fans. It was (and still is) something that I have to work at each and every day.

So how can you fix the low social media engagement that you’re experiencing? The wrong answer is to give up. Instead, try these  5 ways to fix low social media engagement.
