Microsoft’s latest app for Apple iOS users called Xbox LIVE mobile app just got a sweet update for video game players. Now, you can control content on your Xbox using your iPhone and iPod Touch. If you’ve ever used an iOS device to control your Apple TV or your iTunes library, you’ll love this because now you can “play, pause, fast forward, and rewind” just by swiping across your device!
While this is my favorite new feature, here’s a quick rundown on the new Xbox LIVE mobile app.
What I like about this app:
Who doesn’t love not having to look in the sofa cushions for the remote! With the Xbox LIVE mobile app, now you can “play, pause, fast forward, and rewind” using just your iPhone or iPod Touch. I know, who would ever let a Microsoft product work with an Apple product – just kidding!
In addition to being able to control parts of your Xbox, this updated app also gives you the ability to access “Quickplay” lists of the content you recently viewed on your Xbox.
Overall, this is a GREAT update for the Xbox LIVE mobile app. One caveat is that while you can use your Apple iPhone and iPod Touch to control your Microsoft Xbox, your iPad has been left out (for now). My guess is that we’ll see touch controls come to the Apple iPad in their next update.
I’ve taken the time to list out the latest features for both iPhone and iPad users in version 1.5 below.
What’s new in version 1.5:
The Microsoft Xbox LIVE has a slew of handy features. It’s also an iTunes Plus app, meaning you can download one version and use it across your iPhone, iPod Touch as well as your iPad. Did I also mention, it’s FREE too.
