No doubt, Vine is an extremely powerful tool to help you create great content for your social media channels. But what about using Vine videos in your blog posts?
Once you’ve created your Vine masterpiece, you’re not just limited to sharing it with the Vine community. In fact, you can take it a step further and include Vine videos on your blog.
Note: This should work on WordPress (self-hosted and WordPress.com sites), Blogger, Tumblr, even on a Facebook landing page.
5 ways to add Vine videos to a blog post
Embedding a tweet
To embed a tweet in your blog post, follow these steps:
- Tweet out your Vine video
- On your desktop/laptop, go to Twitter
- Hover over a tweet that contains a Vine video – click on the “…More”
- Click on “Embed Tweet”
- Copy the code
- Go to your blog. If you’re using WordPress, click on the “Text” tab
- Paste your code
- Publish your blog post
Get the embed code from a Vine video
To embed a Vine in your blog post, follow these instructions.
- Tweet out your Vine video
- On your desktop/laptop, go to Twitter
- Copy your Vine URL. This will start with vine.co
- Go to your blog. If you are using WordPress, click on the “Text” tab
- Paste the following code: <iframe src=”” width=”450″ height=”650″></iframe>
- In the quotation marks between src=”PASTE VINE URL HERE”
- Save your blog
- Publish your blog post
Camera roll
Each time you create Vine videos, they are saved to your devices camera roll. If you have one you want to embed in a blog post, here’s how to do that:
- Download your Vine videos to your desktop
- Within WordPress, select “Add media”
- Select upload media and locate the files you just saved
- Insert your video into your blog post
- Save your blog
- Publish your blog post
Vine videos on YouTube
- On your desktop/laptop, go to Twitter and locate Vine videos you want to upload to YouTube
- Click the date to see the entire tweet
- Right-click on the Vine video and select “Save Video As…”
- Save the file to your local machine
- Go to YouTube and upload any Vine videos that you have downloaded
- On YouTube, click on “Share” > “Embed” and copy the code
- Go to your blog and compose a new blog post.
- Paste the code you copied from YouTube
- Save your blog
- Publish your blog post
Vineit
This last way to embed Vine videos on your blog or website is probably the easiest.
- Go to Vineit.co
- Drag the VineIt button to your browsers toolbar
- Go to a Vine video, click the VineIt button
- Copy the embed code
- Go to your blog or website and paste the code
- Save your blog post
- Publish your blog post
Wrap-up on embedding Vine videos
Overall, if I had to pick a preferred way to embed Vine videos, I like pulling them from Twitter.
The reason why is because not only does it include my Vine, but it also let’s me connect with people on Twitter as well (it shows a Twitter follow button).
